The Fall of Harmony Ch. 1

Twilight Sparkle, faithful student to Princess Celestia, wandered around the Starswirl the Bearded wing, in the expansive library in Canterlot. "I wonder what magical secrets I'll uncover today." She was on vacation with her friends in Canterlot for the rest of the week, and she decided, as usual, to fill her time with studying. "I know that the time section is right over here," she thought, letting the smell of old parchment fill her snout, "but I've never been to this section…" She approached the opposite set of shelves, curiosity filling her every step. She looked around, for any book that really stood out. Dark Magic and You, Gypsy Magi vs. Unicorns, and Inner Demons all sounded good, but something was telling the lavender pony to keep looking. A Foal's Guide to Reality Changing? Nah. Self-destruction for Dummies? Definitely not. Shadows and Grey; Your Unknown, Darker Side? Hm…might as well give it a try. She pulled it from the shelf, careful not to damage the ancient binding. She set herself, along with the book at the nearest table, extremely intrigued at this point. "Do I have a darker side? she worried I hope not…but…if I did…" She shook the thought out of her head and dove deep into the written words in front of her.
Ye of faint heart, be warned! This text is not meant for those in power, those with influence, or those of vital importance! If ye are none of these, then continue. If ye are one of these, and yet ye still forge forward, do not curse me on the pretense of not being forwarned. Though this will assist thee in achieving one's full magical potential, it may have dire effects on one's personality. It lead to my downfall, and eventual death. Yes, ye of little faith, I have scribed that correctly! I know this shall lead to my doom from experience I had gathered scribing my previous tome, which concerned the mystical seeing stones. If ye are one of strong will and not easily frightened, carry on. But be warned: the knowledge held within oneself can be a powerful thing.
Shaken by the Starswirl the Bearded's powerful warning, she steeled herself and flipped the page. It was blank. As was the one after. Confused, Twilight rapidly flipped through all the pages, straining her eyes for any hint of a secret, invisible message, or a code in the water stains on the pages. Not seeing anything, she used a spell she had only recently learned; it revealed an items secrets. Concentrating on the magic words in here head, she emptied her mind of her own secrets, and focused. Abscondito…se exhibeat. Slowly opening her eyes, she was shocked to see a message scrawled onto the last page of the book; a very short message. Congratulations! Apologies for the small test, I simply had to see if ye were strong enough. Here is your prize:

"Is that it?!" Twilight thought. "I thought Starswirl the Bearded would have at least offered a description as to what this spell does…it sounds a bit foreboding, couped with the title. Ha, what am I thinking! Starswirl wouldn't put anypony in danger!"
Little did she know that this was not exactly written by the Starswirl she knew.
